With Apple Watch still sold out and Google reportedly gearing up to deliver Android Wear support for iPhone at Google I/O next week, it’s time for two of the hottest wearable platforms to face off.

Apple Watch is selling 30,000 units every day in the U.S., according to the latest reports, which makes it significantly hotter than any of the Android Wear watches we’ve seen so far. But is it really worth the hype?

Android Wear isn’t officially iPhone-friendly just yet (though it should be very soon) but you can already connect a Moto 360 to your iPhone. A new Android app called Wear Connect makes the unlikely pairing possible, and it requires no jailbreak or unauthorized hacks.

While it may seem unlikely, speculation surrounding a new Nexus smartphone made by Huawei refuses to die.

According to one analyst based in China, the device is indeed on its way, and it will deliver a 5.7-inch Quad HD display and Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon 810 processor.

Google’s official Android Wear app for iOS could be right around the corner if you believe the reports, but one developer has been proving that the two platforms can already be forced to play nicely together without any jailbreaking.

We’ve seen Wear receiving iPhone notifications and taking calls, and in the latest video from Mohammad Abu-Gabreyyeh, we see that watches like the Moto 360 and the LG G Watch R are capable of controlling music playback, too.

Google has updated its incredibly popular Chromecast to add a new guest mode that allows anyone in the room to stream content to your device without having to connect to your Wi-Fi network. The Chromecast companion app for Android has also been given a Material Design makeover, while its screen casting feature is now officially in beta with support for a wider range of devices.
