The only surprise here, is the fact that T-Mobile even launched the Galaxy Note in the first place. Everyone was wondering why T-Mobile was bothering with a device that was almost a year old, not to mention the fact that its successor, the Galaxy Note II, is supposed to be announced at the end of this month. Well, it appears T-Mobile has come to its senses as it has decided to put the device to rest.

T-Mobile isn’t exactly the carrier of choice these days. After their failed merger with AT&T, they seem to be lost in carrier limbo. Verizon and AT&T have the largest 4G LTE coverage, Sprint has the only true unlimited data plans, and all three of them offer the iPhone. So where does that leave T-Mobile? T-Mobile knows it has to do something, and it appears that something, is unlimited data for $20 a month.

In a move that makes the Square/Starbucks partnership announced last week look like small potatoes, a group of national and international retailers announced plans to develop their own mobile payment network complete with mobile apps and digital wallet functionality. The move seems almost certain to shake up the nascent mobile payments market where a wide range of companies and organizations have been trying to figure out the secret sauce that will turn mobile payments into a mainstream retail system for the past couple of years.

The Merchant Customer Exchange or MCX, as the new company is known, plans to deliver a solution that offers convenience in both making purchases and in receiving customizable offers from retailers. Development of a mobile app and payment network are underway, but MCX has yet to announce any details about either the app or its network.

The sleek looking black version of the Galaxy S III has been randomly popping up everywhere and was recently spotted on T-Mobile’s USA website. While we have yet to hear an official announcement from Samsung, we know it exists, and one U.K. retailer is even expecting to have it in stock soon.

The device that coined the term “phablet” is officially on its way to T-Mobile. The 5+” Samsung Galaxy Note will be available from T-Mobile in “coming weeks” and will launch with Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich and Samsung’s Premium Suite. The Galaxy Note has risen above ridicule to become a top selling Samsung device that will soon have T-Mobile customers clamoring for a stylus.
