Thunderbolt users have been unsure whether or not they’d be left out to dry when it comes to being updated to Android 4.0. While HTC promised many devices (including the Thunderbolt) would see Ice Cream Sandwich sometime in July/August, users are starting to get anxious, an so the doubt begins.

If you’re reading this blog, there’s a pretty good chance you grew up in an age of joysticks, 8-bit graphics, and chiptune music. Well, I almost shed a tear today, as I heard the soundtrack of my youth being played in a YouTube video featuring the only reason you’ll ever need for purchasing a tablet: The Android Arcade!

Last time anyone heard from Toshiba, Ice Cream Sandwich wasn’t going to hit its 10-inch Toshiba Thrive tablet until sometime in the Fall. Luckily Toshiba realized that summer was a much more appropriate time for Ice Cream Sandwich, and has surprised Thrive users with the tasty Android treat a bit earlier than expected.

We can’t say HTC Rezound owners were too happy about sitting by and watching device after device updated to Ice Cream Sandwich, while they sat stuck on Gingerbread, but I can say: they’re much happier now. That’s right, Ice Cream Sandwich has finally begun rolling out to Rezound owners, and while it’s not the latest build, it’s still ICS. Verizon HTC Rezound owners should start seeing the OTA, which will bring them to Android 4.0.3, soon, as we’re already hearing reports of users receiving it.

Boy has it been a slow road for Android 4.0, and while the numbers are still dismal, Ice Cream Sandwich is now populating the second highest number of devices accessing the Google Play Store. Gingerbread remains the majority leader with 60.6% of Android devices running it — quite sad considering it’s almost two years old.
