The Samsung Galaxy S5 will get its grand unveiling at a press event in London in mid-March — not at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona next month — according to a “reliable source.” The device is expected to debut Samsung’s new iris scanning security feature, as well as an improved design made from more premium materials.

Sony-press-invite

Sony has begun issuing invited for an “exclusive booth unveiling” in Berlin on September 4. The event takes place just two days before IFA 2013, and it’s thought the Japanese company will use it to unveil its latest flagship smartphone, code-named “Honami.”

Galaxy-Note-8

Samsung has today confirmed that the new Galaxy Note 8.0 will launch in the United States on April 11, priced at $399. The device will be available in-stores and online from a number of retailers, including Amazon, Best Buy, Newegg, Staples, and TigerDirect.com.

That company is Samsung. In 2012, Samsung outspent Apple by more than three to one in smartphone advertising, with a number of large campaigns on TV, in print, and on the Internet. In total, the Korean company spent $401 million advertising its phones.

LG-Optimus-F5II

Back in February, LG announced its latest Optimus L Series devices, including the Optimus L3II, the Optimus L5II, and the Optimus L7II. All three devices were on show at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, but LG couldn’t tell us when two of them — the Optimus L3II and the Optimus L5II — would be going on sale.

The company has now announced that the Optimus L5II has launched in Brazil ahead of its international rollout.
