Sony Sends Out Invites To ‘Exclusive Booth Unveiling’ On September 4

Sony has begun issuing invited for an “exclusive booth unveiling” in Berlin on September 4. The event takes place just two days before IFA 2013, and it’s thought the Japanese company will use it to unveil its latest flagship smartphone, code-named “Honami.”

Sony will likely be showing the device off at IFA, of course, but by announcing it a couple of days in advance, the company should avoid the deluge of announcements from competitors during the event. HTC did a similar thing back in February when it unveiled the HTC One just before Mobile World Congress.

While we can’t be certain what Sony’s even will bring, many expect to see the Honami, the company’s next flagship smartphone. Recent rumors have claimed its official name will be the i1, and that it will boast a 5-inch 1080p display, the latest quad-core Snapdragon 800 processor, and a 20-megapixel rear-facing camera.

There’s a long time to wait for Sony’s event, so we should hear more about the i1 before it’s made official. In the meantime, look out for press event invited from other companies ahead of IFA.
