NEC has some pretty crazy ideas when it comes to smartphone design — as we discovered when we checked out the dual-screen Medias W at Mobile World Congress back in February. And its latest offering is just as outlandish.

Samsung-Galaxy-S41

The Galaxy S4 has been cleared for government use by the U.S. Department of Defense, with Samsung’s new Knox security software deemed safe for military use. It’s the first Android-powered smartphone to ever win DoD approval, and it gets it ahead of Apple’s iPhone.

HP-Slate-7-front

The new HP Slate 7, HP’s first Android tablet, is coming to the United Kingdom on May 1, priced at a very attractive £129 ($197). The device will only be available in silver initially, but if you’re happy with that, you can pre-order yours today from HP’s website.

Galaxy-Note-8

Samsung has today confirmed that the new Galaxy Note 8.0 will launch in the United States on April 11, priced at $399. The device will be available in-stores and online from a number of retailers, including Amazon, Best Buy, Newegg, Staples, and TigerDirect.com.

LG-Optimus-F5II

Back in February, LG announced its latest Optimus L Series devices, including the Optimus L3II, the Optimus L5II, and the Optimus L7II. All three devices were on show at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, but LG couldn’t tell us when two of them — the Optimus L3II and the Optimus L5II — would be going on sale.

The company has now announced that the Optimus L5II has launched in Brazil ahead of its international rollout.
