BenQ-F3-A3

Taiwanese electronics maker BenQ has today re-entered the smartphone business with two midrange devices announced in Taiwan. They’re called the A3 and the F3, and they’re largely identical when it comes to internal specifications, but both sport different designs, cameras, processors, and price tags.

HTC Desire 601

HTC is reportedly looking to turn its back on Qualcomm and purchase its smartphone processors from other manufacturers instead. The company has already launched two entry-level Desire devices with ST-Ericsson and Spreadtrum Shark chips, but it could be looking for cheaper alternatives to high-end processors as well.

Sony is pulling all sorts out of its hat at the Mobile Asia Expo in Shanghai this morning. We’ve already seen the giant Xperia Z Ultra and the SmartWatch 2, and now there’s a second smartphone to add to the list. The Xperia C S39h offers a 5-inch qHD display and dual-SIM functionality, and it’s Sony’s first smartphone to feature a MediaTek processor.

MediaTek has announced its new tablet-orientated quad-core processor to meet the needs of the rapidly growing tablet market. The MT8125 chip follows the same formula as ARM’s Cortex A7 1.5GHz processor, ensuring that it’s compatible with most high-end tablets.

GooPhone-One

It won’t be announced until Tuesday, February 19, but the HTC One already has its own Chinese knockoff. Called the GooPhone One, the device you see above has clearly been built upon the leaked renders we’ve been seeing for HTC’s upcoming flagship over the past couple of weeks. It runs Android, but don’t expect to see the Sense user interface here.
