Owners of the HTC Rezound will be getting an update for their device real soon. But before you get too excited, there’s no Ice Cream Sandwich. Well, if it doesn’t have the one thing every Rezound owner is waiting for, what does it have? A few bugfixes and improvements such as:

When Sprint updated the HTC EVO 3D, they slyly removed the infamous Carrier IQ, and called it a “security update.” We soon got wind that Sprint was planning to remove Carrier IQ from all its handsets, and not soon after, HTC chimed in and confirmed Sprint’s plans. It appears they are continuing with these “security updates,” as they have now released them to three more devices: the HTC EVO 4G, EVO Design 4G, and the Samsung Epic 4G.

Apparently HTC’s mega-beast quad-core handset is suffering from quite the identity crisis. We’ve come to know it as the HTC Edge up until just recently when PocketNow reported that HTC went ahead and changed the codename to Endeavor. It’s supposed to undergo another name change to Supreme, once it hits retail shelves, but as PocketNow points out, while retail names often see multiple name variances, codenames usually remain the same to help distinguish them internally.

We reported on the good news of Sprint and HTC removing Carrier IQ from the HTC EVO 3D yesterday, but what would you say if I told you HTC has confirmed that Sprint will be phasing out Carrier IQ completely. I’m guessing the first thing you’ll do is remove that silly tinfoil hat from your head, then perhaps go outside again. Kidding aside, we knew this was coming, and it’s nice to see some confirmation on the subject.

Last month we reported the good news that all HTC devices released after September of 2011 would have unlockable bootloaders. While that was all fine and dandy, it didn’t ease the pangs of users sporting pre-September 2011 devices. Luckily HTC has not abandoned support for its older devices and continues to update the HTCdev site.
