One of the highlights of the LG G3 is that its impressive 13-megapixel camera has the ability to record super sharp 4K video, but it’s somewhat spoiled by LG’s aggressive post-processing. As is often the case, however, third-party developers have devised a tweak that makes 4K video recording even better.

It also boosts 1080p recording from 30 frames-per-second to 60 frames-per-second — but you’ll need root access to install it.

Samsung is already working to redefine high-definition tablets and put a 4K display in your rucksack. The South Korean company has this week been showing off a new tablet prototype with a super sharp 12-inch screen that’s enough to make a 1080p movie look like a VHS.

In exactly one week’s time, Samsung will be holding its Unpacked 5 event in Barcelona where it is expected to announce the much-anticipated Galaxy S5. Rumor has it the device will be the first Galaxy smartphone with a super-sharp 2K display, but an early retail listing suggests Samsung will instead be sticking to its trusty 1080p panels for the time being.

When it comes to smartphone displays, how many pixels is too many? Most of us believe the current crop of 1080p displays shipping with today’s flagships provide more than enough for our handheld devices, but Chinese manufacturer Vivo disagrees.

The company has begun teasing the Xplay3S, its new smartphone that will become the world’s first with a 2K display.

Despite an abundance of high-end specifications that include a 1080p display and a quad-core Snapdragon 800 processor, Google’s new Nexus 5 could start at just $299. That’s according to one tipster, who claims the device will be available in 16GB and 32GB variants, each of which will have a different battery capacity.
