Cracked-Nokia-Lumia-Windows-Phone

Windows Phone has been struggling to catch up to Android and iOS ever since its release, and most would blame the platform’s lack of apps and Microsoft’s leisurely approach to adopting the latest technologies. And it’s not just consumers that are becoming frustrated with the situation.

Even Nokia, Microsoft’s biggest Windows Phone partner, wants the software giant to get a move on and make the mobile platform more of a priority.

Sony has unveiled its new Xperia Z Ultra phablet at the Mobile Asia Expo in Shanghai this morning. The device boasts a large 6.4-inch display, the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor running at 2.2GHz, and 4G LTE connectivity. Like its little brother, the Xperia Z, the Xperia Z Ultra is also waterproof.

HTC has kindly provided fans with a new batch of high-resolution wallpapers that’ll give your smartphone a fresh splash of color. There are six in total, including street lights in Taipei, vibrant seashells, and pretty cakes.

youtube

One of the major issues with the YouTube app on Android is that it only plays back HD videos if your device is connected to a Wi-Fi network. Over 3G, the app only provides the option to playback videos in “HQ” mode.

With Android devices now packing full HD and higher resolution screens, watching videos on HQ mode is quite an eyesore. At the very least, Google should provide an option to view videos in HD mode even when streaming videos over mobile network.

Thankfully, a developer over at XDA forums has released a modded version of the YouTube app that allows for 720p/1080p video playback over 3G or Wi-Fi. The app will be especially handy for DROID DNA, HTC One, Galaxy S4 and other 1080p Android handset users, where videos in HQ mode don’t do justice to the screen of these phones.
