Google is gearing up to launch a second-generation Nexus 7 this July, which will cost slightly more than its predecessor at $229, according to supply chain sources in Taiwan. The search giant has supposedly upped its price tag slightly in an effort to avoid competing directly against entry-level Android tablet from other manufacturers.

The HTC One Mini, a cheaper version of HTC’s flagship smartphone, will go on sale this August, according to sources for Bloomberg. The device will have a smaller display with a lower-resolution screen and a slower processor, but it will be priced less to compete with devices like the Samsung Galaxy S4 Mini.

Samsung has reportedly delayed its Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean updates for the Galaxy S III and the Galaxy Note II. The releases are set to bring Samsung’s latest TouchWiz user interface to the devices, along with lots of the new features that first made their debut on the Galaxy S4 back in March.

Waze-sold

Google has today confirmed that it has acquired social mapping service Waze as it looks to improve Google Maps. The company did not disclose how much it paid for the Israeli startup, but it has revealed that it plans to integrate some of its popular features into Google Maps.
