Microsoft’s Windows operating system is often mocked for its blue screen of death, the dreaded error message that appears on an all-too-often basis when attempting to work the computer too hard. And now it seems the company’s Windows Phone platform has a nasty error message of its own.
This particular error message, spotted on the HTC 8X, rather hilariously asks you to “insert your Windows installation disk” and “repair your computer” to continue.
Google has launched a new Chrome beta channel for Android smartphones and tablet running Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich or later. The new app gives developers and curious users the ability to preview upcoming features prior to their public debut. It works alongside the regular Chrome browser, so you can install it without losing the stable version.
Android has received a bad rep lately for being a petri dish for malware. Yes, you can install any app you want on your smartphone, that’s what makes Android such a great platform. Just make sure you know what you’re installing and you won’t have any problems.

In their newest marketing campaign, Microsoft wants to hear all about Android users’ most vile and gruesome malware horror stories, and if it’s entertaining enough they might give you a free phone too.
Apple’s iPads, including the new iPad mini, have become the most successful tablets every built. Almost three years after Steve Jobs introduced the original iPad, the device continues to be the king of slates, with more than half of the tablet market share. That hasn’t changed much in 2012, but Android tablets have slowly been eating away at its market share, and it may not be long before they dominate.

What does it tell us about the state of the computer industry? Even with iOS’s success, Apple is proportionally selling about the same percentage of computers as it has since the early 1980s. Windows as a platform, though, has fallen from a ninety-six percent share of the overall computer market between 1998 and 2005 to a mere thirty-five percent in 2012.
Why? Apple and especially Android are killing WinTel.
