Note3_SIM-region-lock

The Samsung Galaxy Note 3 went on sale in Europe this week, but before you purchase one online and have it shipped to the United States, there’s something you need to know. It appears Samsung is region-locking the new device to prevent it from being used with international SIMs, so handsets sold in Europe will only work with European operators — even if you buy them unlocked.

Nexus-7-LTE

Google hasn’t begun selling the new 4G LTE Nexus 7 yet — it hasn’t even confirmed when it will be selling it — but it appears Asus may have shipped some units accidentally in China. One man was delighted to find that the 32GB Wi-Fi only model he ordered was actually a 32GB 4G LTE model when he pulled it out of the box.

O2-4G-coming

O2 has today confirmed the price of its 4G price plans ahead of their rollout next Thursday, August 29. The carrier’s SIM-only plans will start from £26 ($40) per month, while those that are tied to a 4G handset start from £32 ($49) per month. All of O2’s 4G plans will also come bundled with free music, sport, and game content.

Moto-X-nano-SIM

Only one Android handset has launched with support for the nano-SIM since it made its debut with the iPhone 5 last fall, and that’s the quirky Asus Padfone Infinity. But Google’s upcoming Moto X is expected to become the second — as you can see from the leaked photo above.

Sony-Xperia-M

Sony has today announced a new addition to its Xperia smartphone family, this time targeting the entry-level end of the market. It’s called the Xperia M and it offers a 4-inch FWVGA display with a 854×480 resolution, a 1GHz dual-core Qualcomm processor, and a 5-megapixel Exmor RS rear-facing camera.
