Got an official Dot View case for your HTC One M8? Then you’re going to love the update HTC just rolled out to its official Dot View app, which brightens things up a bit by allowing you to apply background wallpapers. HTC gives you a bunch to get you started, but if you’d prefer, you can choose your own photos, too.

The quick settings pane is one of the most useful features in more recent versions of Android, giving users fast and easy to access to a whole bunch of shortcuts and toggles for different settings and functions. The only problem is, we all want quick access to different things — depending on how we use our phones — and Google’s stock options aren’t ideal for all.

Third-parties like Samsung and HTC have addressed this complaint by giving users the option to customize their quick settings pane, and a request in the official Android issue tracker suggests may finally do the same for Android L.

Chromecast-mirroring

Google updated Chromecast this week to finally enable Android Mirroring, a feature which lets you beam everything you see on your Android-powered smartphone or tablet to your TV. It’s great for showing off your photos, surfing the web on the big screen, and for enjoying content inside of apps that don’t yet offer direct Chromecast support.

Verizon has finally begun accepting pre-orders for the LG G3, more than a month after the device got its official unveiling. Customers will pay a $99.99 upfront fee when they take out a new two-year contract, and orders will begin shipping by Thursday, July 17.

 

Google-Play-Edition-banner

Google has removed almost all of last year’s Google Play Edition devices from Google Play, including the Xperia Z Ultra, the HTC One M7, and the LG G Pad 8.3. The only 2013 devices that remain are the Moto G and the Samsung Galaxy S4, but the latter is currently out of stock and has been for some time.
