Google has announced an update to its popular Google Maps for Android, bringing the app to version 6.5. The update adds a redesigned navigation home screen, crisper look on devices that have a higher pixel density, a faster experience, and more. The Maps team also announced some pretty interesting statistics about the app’s all-time usage.

Google has been long rumored — since 2006 in fact — to launch a new cloud storage offering, called Google Drive. In fact, just last month the Wall Street Journal reported it was close to launch. Now, GigaOm reports, from unnamed sources, that Google is planning on launching Google Drive during the first week of April.

I’m absolutely flabbergasted! I thought for sure the higher price tag of this year’s Google I/O would prevent it from selling out in under an hour. Boy was I wrong! It only took 28 minutes for Google I/O 2012 to sell out and I’m pretty sure that’s a new record. Well that’s about all I have to say about that. Hopefully you were able to snag yourself a ticket within that first 28 minutes, otherwise get ready to take a second mortgage out for a ticket via eBay.

Just a quick reminder that registration for Google I/O kicks off tomorrow. Registration will open at 7:00 a.m. PDT and will most likely sell out within the hour. Then again, this year’s prices have double from $450 to $900 so there’s a chance it may take a few more hours to sell out but be warned — it will sell out! You’ll need a G+ account to register and Google Wallet to make payment so make sure you’re prepared beforehand.

After a security vulnerability within Google Wallet was discovered, Google decided to suspend the ability to add a Google prepaid card while they worked on patching things up. Google quickly fixed the issue but decided to hold off on returning the prepaid cards for a bit. I’m happy to announce that Google has finally returned the ability to add prepaid cards but you will have to update to the latest version of Google Wallet to get it. Once you update, you’ll be able to access Google’s prepaid card and any previously unused balance plus a little extra.
