Earlier today, Google started rolling out the Android 4.4.1 update for the Nexus 5 and other devices from the Nexus series. While the Android 4.4.1 update is mainly aimed at improving the camera performance of the Nexus 5, there are still a lot of changes and bug-fixes for all the other devices that makes the update worth it.

A seemingly harmless flashlight application built for Android has tricked tens of millions of users into handing over personal data, the Federal Trade Commission has revealed. Developed by GoldenShores Technologies, the Brightest Flashlight app took device ID and location data without informing users, then passed it on to advertisers.

Late last night, Google officially announced the expanding availability of its Google Search service, Google Now to include an additional 3 new languages, Japanese, German and French. Obviously, you’ll need the latest version of the Google Search app installed on your device to use the service, but once that’s done you’ll be able to ask questions in these three newly implemented languages, as well as English and receive spoken results.

As I’ve mentioned before, I have few complaints about the Nexus 5, but I have been hugely disappointed with its camera. It’s lacking features that are now commonplace on other flagship smartphones, and it’s so slow that unless your subject is completely still, it’s impossible to take a clear photo.

Fortunately, Google has acknowledged these issues and promised a fix, and it’s coming in the form of Android 4.4.1 which will roll out over the next few days.
