Hangouts

Google has started rolling out a new Hangouts update for Android that should alleviate a number of the problems users have been experiencing with the app. It lets you import SMS messages into the app when they aren’t appearing as they should, and adds a new option that allows you to disable MMS for group messaging.

Nexus-5-Android-4-4-1

Google has started rolling out the Android 4.4.2 update for all the Nexus devices, fixing the flash SMS bug that was reported last week. The update comes less than a week after the company started rolling out the Android 4.4.1 update that greatly improved the Nexus 5 camera performance. 

Moto-X-festive-boot

Motorola has today begun rolling out a new festive boot animation that I’m sure you’ll enjoy this Christmas, as well as a fix for the lag issue effecting the handset’s Active Display feature.

Moto G

Developers love getting their hands on a kernel source code, primarily because it allows them to develop some great new custom ROMs with awesome features you don’t usually get as standard. Starting today, the official Android 4.3 kernel files for the Moto G can be downloaded directly from Motorola’s official SourceForge homepage.

Google News Revamp

If you prefer to read the news in a browser window instead of through an RSS reader or news app, such as Newsstand or Currents, then you’ll be glad to hear that Google is in the throes of launching a mighty much-needed makeover for its official news reader mobile website.
