Google-Sundar-Pichai

There has been some speculation since Google announced Chromecast from a number of Google TV users as they firmly believe that this is the final nail in the internet TV services coffin. However, the senior vice president of Google, Sundar Pichai, has high hopes for the service and is convinced that Google TV will evolve alongside Chromecast and neither device will substitute the other.

Just about every major tech company is working on two untapped product categories right now: wearable technology and streaming television over the internet. Apple is trying to draw in TV networks with advertising incentives, and even Intel is working on its own TV service.

It should come as no surprise that Google has been in talks with media companies about streaming premium TV over the internet. The company has reportedly demoed its new product to cable executives, but it’s still up to the networks to jump on board.

On Thursday June 6th Sony announced the latest addition to its line of Google TV devices, the NSZ-GS8. The Internet Player is the successor to Sony’s NSZ-GS7, which it announced last year. The biggest change for this years model is the addition of voice search.

Google unveiled a ton of astonishing new features, updates and applications at the Google I/O keynote on Wednesday, however something they failed to mention was the brand new update for their YouTube application for the Google TV.
