Samsung has already explained its love for plastic, and why it chose to stick with it for the flagship Galaxy S4. But after receiving a lot of criticism for that decision, the company’s head of design, Dennis Miloseski, was forced to defend the Galaxy S4’s plastic build once again at Engadget’s Expand conference in San Francisco this weekend.

Samsung unveiled a new Game Pad accessory at its Galaxy S4 event in Times Square last week, but it somehow got swept under the carpet while we all digested the news about the phone itself. Now it has appeared in a hands-on video from GamerHub, and we had to bring it to you, because we think it’s awesome.

The device works with Samsung’s new Game Arcade, and it essentially turns your Galaxy S4 into a portable console. It even works with Samsung’s Smart Dock, so you can plug it into your HDTV for an even greater experience.

Samsung has promised that many of its new smartphone features, which will make their debut on the Galaxy S4 next month, will be coming to its predecessor, the Galaxy S III. “Anything that we can do that’s not dependent on hardware like infrared, we’ll definitely bring to all the flagship devices,” said the company’s vice president of portfolio planning, Nick DiCarlo.

Samsung Electronics now has a trio of co-CEOs after adding presidents Yoon Boo-keun and JK Shin to the executive team. They join Samsung’s current vice chairman and CEO Kwon Oh-hyun and will server alongside COO and president Lee Jae-yong.

The move comes a day after Samsung unveiled its Galaxy S4 at an event in New York City’s Radio City Music Hall.

Good looking, but cheap.

Good looking, but cheap.

After months of rumor and speculation surrounding the new Galaxy S4, Samsung finally unveiled its new “life companion” at a very peculiar event in New York City’s Radio City Music Hall last night. The device has already received some criticism for looking a lot like its predecessor, the Galaxy S III, and indeed a number of Samsung’s other smartphones.

Fans are disappointed that the Korean company has continued to use plastic for its new flagship — despite a company executive explaining the decision behind this earlier this month — and that it hasn’t switched to more premium materials like aluminum and glass, following companies like Apple, HTC, and LG.

If you’re one of those fans, then you’re going to be even more disappointed when you hear the latest Galaxy S4 rumor, which claims Samsung developed a number of prototypes for the device, then brought the cheapest one to market.
