Transformer-Book-Duet-TD300

Asus has been forced to abandon the dual-booting Transformer Book Duet TD300 due to strong opposition from both Google and Microsoft, according to sources for The Wall Street Journal.

Announced at CES back in January, the notebook would have allowed users to run Android and Windows on the same machine, then quickly switch between them. But its fate has looked uncertain since Asus postponed its launch this month.

Staples UK is now selling the 2013 Nexus 7 with a more than decent £50 discount bringing the price down to £150. The pricing is effective immediately, so you can walk into your nearest Staples outlet in the region to get the tablet at this discounted price.

ATT-PadFoneX-soon

AT&T took to Twitter earlier today to remind us of ASUS’ upcoming PadFone X which was first mentioned back in January at CES in Barcelona, when the operator announced that it will have exclusivity over the handset when it launches in the U.S. later this year. In spite of this latest revelation, the information page for the PadFone X still states that the device as simply ‘coming soon’, so we can only assume that this means the new smartphone-tablet hybrid will be released sooner rather than later this year.

ASUS Chromebox

The ASUS Chromebox was officially announced last month as one of the “Best Chrome OS Computers”. This device is now up for pre order through Amazon in the U.S. The online retailer has priced this ultra-portable Chrome OS computer at $179, which isn’t a lot considering its versatility.

Asus has reportedly postponed the launch of its new, dual-booting Android+Windows notebook following pressure from Google. The Transformer Book Duet TD300, which was announced at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas back in January, was scheduled to go on sale in March — but it may not go on sale at all.
