ASUS Chromebox Now Available On Pre Order For $179

ASUS Chromebox

The ASUS Chromebox was officially announced last month as one of the “Best Chrome OS Computers”. This device is now up for pre order through Amazon in the U.S. The online retailer has priced this ultra-portable Chrome OS computer at $179, which isn’t a lot considering its versatility.

The device comes with a 16GB solid state drive along with a 1.4 GHz dual core Intel Celeron 2955U processor and 2GB of RAM. This is in addition to Google’s free 100GB of Drive storage which is offered with every Chrome OS device. So the onboard storage limitation shouldn’t be a major concern to users.

Connectivity wise, the Chromebox comes with four USB 3.0 ports, an HDMI port, a DisplayPort, Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n and Bluetooth 4.0. So there’s no lack of connectivity options with this tiny yet powerful Chrome OS computer.

At 2.2 pounds or 997 grams, the Chromebox isn’t the lightest portable computers out there. Its internals aren’t that high end, but you can’t really expect much from a device which only costs $179. The ASUS Chromebox will start shipping to customers from the 17th of March, so pre order customers will have to wait another 10 days.
