Google is gearing up to offload Motorola’s set-top box business as it looks to concentrate its efforts on competing with Apple’s iPhone. The company has been trying to sell Motorola Home Business, which supplies set-top boxes to cable television providers, for around $2 billion, and it has reportedly received multiple offers already. Once it’s gone, Google will focus on high-end smartphones.

XBMC version 12 (Froyo) just got its second beta release, and it’s arguably the best yet for those running an Android device. Why? Because it’s the first to boast official Android support, which means you can now look forward to better control and bug tracking. The new beta is available to download now.

Developers of the popular stock Android music player alternative doubleTwist, have today released a welcomed update for the app. If you use Google Music to buy and store music, you’ll want to grab this update, as version 1.7.3 of doubleTwist adds support for offline tracks. Although Android has an overall lead over iOS in smartphone marketshare, there are IT departments that remain hesitant on the platform. The Galaxy Beam is Samsung’s new handset that includes a 15-lumen pico projector. Although Samsung’s press release for the phone offering a lot of personal entertainment uses, this is a device that has clear business potential.
