Google has pulled a fake BlackBerry Messenger app from Google Play after it was downloaded by over 100,000 users who thought it was the real thing. The app was called “blackberry messenger bbm,” and it was created by a developer called “RIM.” But all it did was install icons, bookmarks, and more from advertising network StartApp.

Last night, Google’s Gesture Search app received a major update. The new version brings support to more than 40 different languages, although Google has not as of yet, officially published a list stating exactly which languages are supported at the moment.

Google updated its Gmail app for Android earlier this week, and most of the changes and new features it introduced have been welcomed by users. But there is one that’s splitting opinions, and that’s the new contact images that sit alongside your emails.

They’d be neat if every email had a contact image to go with it, but if your inbox looks anything like mine, the vast majority of them don’t, so instead you see a big colorful initial that just wastes space.

Fortunately, it’s easy to to turn those contact images. Here’s how.

Google’s YouTube apps for Android and iOS have helped the company triple advertising sales on mobile in the past six months, the company has said. Mobile ads now contribute an estimated $350 million to YouTube’s revenue, with around a quarter of the site’s 1 billion users accessing videos on smartphones and tablets.

British broadcaster BSkyB has returned all of its of Android apps to Google Play. All ten of them were pulled earlier this week when they were hacked by the Syrian Electronic Army, and Sky advised users to uninstall them from their devices.

Now users are safe to install them again.
