Galaxy-S5-back-blue

Samsung’s Electric Blue Galaxy S5 will finally be available to purchase in the United States this month — but it will be a Best Buy exclusive. Prices will start at $149.99 on a two-year contract with Verizon, and aside from its paint job, the new handset will be identical to its siblings in looks and specifications.

Amazon has slashed $130 off its 32GB 8.9-inch Kindle Fire HDX for today only, bringing its price tag down from $429 to just $299 with special offers. The tasty discount, which makes the 32GB device $20 cheaper than the 16GB model, appears to be available only to customers based in the U.S. at this time.

Google-Play-refund

Google appears to have quietly increased the Play Store’s refund window for paid apps and games to two hours for a large number of titles.

The window previously gave buyers only 15 minutes to decide whether or not they wished to keep their download or have their money back — and that’s still the case, according to Google’s refund policy. But one report has found that the window now stays open a whole lot longer in most cases.

Some apps are about transforming productivity and making it easier to achieve the kind of tasks we need to carry out on a daily basis. Others are just about annoying your friends.

CatFacts has all four paws firmly in the latter camp. You see, several years ago a super-popular thread turned up on Reddit, telling the story of a user whose young cousin shared his new phone number on Facebook. Without letting him know who was behind it, the older cousin began trolling his younger relative with unprompted “Cat Facts” which he had apparently signed up to, but which didn’t provide an easy way to unsubscribe.

Over a series of messages, the young cousin’s initial bewilderment turns into fury, while transforming the thread itself into pure Internet gold.

Galaxy-Alpha-vs-iPhone

New images of Samsung’s upcoming Galaxy Alpha indicate it will be even thinner than Apple’s iPhone 5s. The handset’s rear-facing camera protrudes out of its back somewhat — just like the Galaxy S5’s — but overall, the device could well be the slimmest Samsung smartphone to date.
