Verizon Wireless has finally confirmed its pricing for the Samsung Galaxy S5 and begun taking pre-orders, just one week ahead of the handset’s launch. In line with other U.S. carriers, Big Red is charging $199.99 for the new flagship — after a $50 mail-in rebate — when you take out a two-year contract.

Last year, Samsung released its first ever camera-phone hybrid, the Galaxy S4 Zoom, and it’s pretty safe to say that it didn’t do quite as well as the South Korean company would have hoped. It was extremely thick, slow, heavy and bulky, which resulted in very poor sales. But now it looks like Samsung has taken all  the negative feedback onboard and is now ready to give it another shot with its new yet-to-be announced ‘Galaxy S5 Zoom’.

Yesterday an anonymous source submitted a picture to SamMobile, which reportedly shows the upcoming Galaxy S5 Zoom in all its glory. As you can see from the image above, the handset continues to feature the monstrous 20-megapixel rear-facing camera and 10x optical zoom, which its predecessor featured, though, this latest model appears to be significantly thinner and more rounded, which comes as nothing but good news.

We’ve put together a handy comparison chart to help you decide which is best for you based on hardware, services, and price.

David Ortiz - Barack Obama

Samsung has just made a major celebrity signing in the form of Boston Red Sox star David Ortiz. Expectedly, the MLB star made full use of this as he posed for a selfie using his Galaxy Note 3 with the U.S. President Barack Obama only a day after he closed the deal with Samsung. The Korean manufacturer signed a similar deal with TV star Ellen DeGeneres who was part of the ‘most retweeted photo ever’ at the recently held Academy Awards function.

Drop Test

The Samsung Galaxy S5 is immune to water spills or even dust, but its durability is not known to us yet. But thanks to a new drop test conducted on video, we now get an idea as to how sturdy the smartphone really is. The handset was compared along with the Galaxy S4 from last year to give us a better idea of how much has changed in terms of durability.
