The first reviews for the Samsung Galaxy Gear rolled in last week, and just as we suspected, they weren’t all that positive. While almost all had good things to say about the device, they also agreed that it was rushed and unfinished, lacking key features, and in need of improvement in a number of areas — most importantly in notifications and battery life.

But while the device itself may not be all that impressive, its first TV commercial is.

HTC-One-silver-back

HTC has officially published its Android 4.3 expansion plans for its flagship One smartphone. On Friday the President of HTC America, Jason Mackenzie, confirmed on Twitter that the 4.3 Jelly Bean update for AT&T’s carrier-branded HTC One has passed network certification, and will start to push out over-the-air early this week.

Verizon Droid DNA update

Verizon is in the process of rolling out a minor over-the-air (OTA) update for the HTC Droid DNA. Although it doesn’t bring the eagerly awaited Sense 5 or Android 4.3 to the handset, it’s still quite a significant stability update that we would advise all users to download.

In Friday’s Wall Street Journal paper edition, we found this amazing, multi-page Samsung advertisement section, showing off the Korean-based manufacturer’s Galaxy Note 3 and Galaxy Gear watch.

Check out the nine full pages below, and then just think about how much this must have run Samsung: in the US version of the paper, boasting a subscription base of 1.5 million, ad rates for a full-page color ad list at $312,283.13. Of course Samsung got a multi-page discount, but still. That’s a lot of cash.
