Verizon has started pushing out an over-the-air (OTA) update for its branded edition of HTC’s flagship One. This upgrade brings a handful of new features and stability improvements, and although it doesn’t bring any major software improvements, i.e. Android 4.3, it’s still quite a significant update that we would advise all users to download.

Some lucky folks at Verizon were recently able to upgrade to a new phone without losing their unlimited data plan. Color us totally jealous.

This was the result of a glitch, said Verizon, and not a change in policy like some may have mistakenly hoped for.

Verizon told AllThingsD on Monday that it would, however, honor the unlimited plans of customers that were able to upgrade without the dreaded limited data plan of doom.

Following Verizon, T-Mobile and AT&T’s lead, Sprint has today announced its own annual upgrade plan, allowing subscribers to upgrade their handsets every 12 months, so they too can keep up to date with the latest and greatest smartphones on the market.

Best Buy has officially announced that it is offering the brand new “Vivid Blue” edition together with the original silver model of HTC’s flagship smartphone, the One, for a mere $49 on any of Verizon’s two-year contracts.

Verizon has officially published an HTC Droid DNA update page on its website. According to Big Red, the DNA will receive an update bringing Sense 5, some time in the not-to-distant future.
