Developers love getting their hands on a kernel source code, primarily because it allows them to develop some great new custom ROMs with awesome features you don’t usually get as standard. As of today, the official Android 4.4.2 kernel files for the Moto G can be downloaded directly from Motorola’s blog.

Hello-SMS-Android

Hello SMS, my favorite third-party SMS client and one of our picks for Best Apps of 2013, has gotten a new update that adds a number of new features and improvements based on user feedback. Highlights include an image sharing confirmation prompt, the ability to turn off invite reminders, and some user interface improvements.

Galaxy-Note-3-KitKat

Samsung’s Android 4.4.2 KitKat update for the Galaxy Note 3 made its debut a little earlier than expected today when it started appearing on handsets in Poland. The software is compatible with the Snapdragon-powered Galaxy Note 3 with the “SM-N9005” model number, and it’s being distributed via Samsung’s KIES application for Mac and PC.

Venue 7

Today, Dell started pushing out an unexpected over-the-air update to all its Venue 7 tablets currently located in the United States. According to the changelog, the upgrade brings the latest build of Android 4.3 Jelly Bean, together with a multitude of additional bug fixes, speed optimizations and stability improvements.

Google-Play-services

Google has started rolling out a new update (v4.1) for Google Play Services that brings with it a lot of new goodies for developers to play around with. This includes a new turn-based multiplayer API, preliminary Google Drive integration and more.

Google had announced Play Services back at Google I/O last year, which allows it to bring a host of new features to Android devices without pushing out an update for the OS itself.
