Android 4.4.2 KitKat Now Arriving On The Galaxy Note 3

Galaxy-Note-3-KitKat

Samsung’s Android 4.4.2 KitKat update for the Galaxy Note 3 made its debut a little earlier than expected today when it started appearing on handsets in Poland. The software is compatible with the Snapdragon-powered Galaxy Note 3 with the “SM-N9005” model number, and it’s being distributed via Samsung’s KIES application for Mac and PC.

The new software, which carries the “N9005XXUENA6” build number, should also be available to download over-the-air. Users in other regions should start to see it over the coming days and weeks as well, though those with carrier-locked devices will have to wait for the software to be approved first.

This update makes some minor changes to the Galaxy Note 3’s TouchWiz user interface, including white status bar icons that match those of stock KitKat, as well as performance improvements that result in better benchmark scores. There are also some changes to the lock screen interface, including a camera shortcut.

If you’ve received the Android 4.4.2 update on your Galaxy Note 3, and you don’t live in Poland, let us know about it in the comments.
