TiVo has today updated its Android app to finally add support for video streaming from your DVR to supported smartphones and tablets. The feature gives users the ability to begin watching live and recorded shows on their TV at home, and then continue enjoying them on their mobile devices when they leave the house.

Virgin TV Anywhere App

Virgin Media has today uploaded its official TV Anywhere Android application to the Google Play Store, so Virgin Media TiVo subscribers in the U.K. will now be able to watch live television or recorded programs on their Android devices, anytime, anyplace, anywhere! In order to download and install the application, you need to have a non-rooted phone or tablet running Android 2.3 through to Android 4.3. Strangely, there is no support for 4.4 KitKat at this time.

Google doesn’t have time to focus on products like this. It has an iPhone to beat.

Google is gearing up to offload Motorola’s set-top box business as it looks to concentrate its efforts on competing with Apple’s iPhone. The company has been trying to sell Motorola Home Business, which supplies set-top boxes to cable television providers, for around $2 billion, and it has reportedly received multiple offers already. Once it’s gone, Google will focus on high-end smartphones.
