Earlier today, Verizon posted the official update documents for an upcoming OTA upgrade for the scaled-down variant of Samsung’s former flagship smartphone of 2013, the Galaxy S4 Mini. The paperwork reveals that the handset is set to receive the longly-awaited Android 4.3 Jelly Bean software build, in addition to support for the Galaxy Gear.

Samsung has merged its digital imaging and mobile communications businesses in a bid to create better smartphones. The South Korean company hopes that the reshuffle will lead to better collaboration between the two teams as consumers become increasingly concerned about camera performance when buying a new handset.

A judge in Seoul, South Korea has denied Samsung’s claim that Apple violated three of its patents, relating to short message services.

The paperwork reveals that the update, build VRUEMK2, is scheduled to bring some bug fixes and stability enhancements, in addition to unlocking the annoying micro USB restriction, which meant that users could only use official Samsung chargers on their handsets. So from now on, all non-Samsung chargers will work correctly with the S4.

Samsung’s taking smartphone bling to the next level. Apple may have beat it to gold, but the South Korean company is hoping to make crystals mainstream. Its new Galaxy S4, launched today in Taiwan, is decorated with real Swarovski crystals and it’s anywhere near as expensive at you’d expect it to be.
