The Samsung Galaxy S5 isn’t officially available for another two weeks, but a lucky few have gotten their hands on it already. One of those people is recognized developer Chainfire, who has already developed a root for the international (SM-G900F) version of the device.

It is common for rival manufacturers to take a dig at each other, especially when two companies are launching a smartphone at almost the same time. The President of HTC America did something similar by taking a jibe at the Samsung flagship which is launching in mid-April.

Android 4.4.2 KitKat is now rolling out to Samsung Galaxy Note 3 owners on AT&T. The update brings some nice user interface changes — including white menu bar icons and album art on the lock screen — as well as security improvements, Google Cloud Print, and more.

The Samsung Galaxy S5 is just over a couple of weeks away from officially landing in the markets. And Samsung has set up several outlets around the world offering previews of the flagship before it is officially available. UK retailer Phones 4U is the latest to join that list and users can now head over to 10 stores across the region to get their hands on the premier Samsung flagship.

Russian government officials have ditched the iPad in favor of Samsung-made tablets according to a recent report. The move was supposedly made to “ensure tighter security.”

Russia’s telecoms minister Nikolai Nikiforov notes that Russian officials switched over to Samsung tablets “not so long ago,” and noted that the new tablets are “specially protected devices that can be used to work with confidential information.”
