HTC Official Calls The Samsung Galaxy S5 “A Cheap Piece Of Plastic”

HTC M8 Unveiling

It is common for rival manufacturers to take a dig at each other, especially when two companies are launching a smartphone at almost the same time. The President of HTC America did something similar by taking a jibe at the Samsung flagship which is launching in mid-April.

“We’re a company that invests in our customers and delivers a beautifully designed product that you can feel proud of,” said Mackenzie while speaking with Business Insider.

He further added – “I think they (Samsung) play to their strength: they say, ‘we have a lot of cash, let’s go out and paint the world blue’. And I think that’s evident when you look at that product.”

The real knockout punch though, was when he called the Galaxy S5 “just a cheap piece of plastic” and that the new HTC One is made for people who want the best.

There’s no disputing that the HTC One (M8) is perhaps the best looking Android phone we’ve seen this year so far, but statistics suggest that Samsung has traditionally been more popular among consumers compared to HTC.

It will be interesting to see if the new HTC flagship will be able to wipe HTC’s poor sales record from the last couple of years and turn things around for the company.
