Nokia-X-Dual-SIM-2

If you’re thinking about picking up a Nokia X, but you’re put off by its heavily modified Android operating system, then you’ll be pleased to know that the first custom ROM with pure Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean is now available.

It’s free from all of Nokia’s own tweaks, delivering a stock experience exactly as Google intended it — and so far everything appears to be working seamlessly.

HTC-One-M8-Google-Play-Edition

If you live outside of the United States, then you don’t get the option to buy the new HTC One M8 Google Play Edition. That’s a shame if you prefer a pure Android experience over HTC’s Sense 6 user interface — but you can now take matters into your own hands.

The official Google Play Edition ROM is now available to download, and with a bit of hackery, it can be flashed to the regular M8.

Cyanogen Inc., the company responsible for the immensely popular CyanogenMod ROMs, today revealed its new logo.

Seen above, the logo is designed to represent the three hallmarks of CyanogenMod, and it replaces the lovable CyanogenMod mascot, Cid. But don’t worry — his creators say we’ll still see him around.

HTC One mini (M4) owners with a penchant for custom ROMs will be pleased to hear their device is now officially supported by CyanogenMod. An experimental “test” version of CyanogenMod 11 as well as the handset’s first “nightly” build are available to download now.

MIUI is a relatively popular custom ROM from some Chinese developers with a very unique UI. The ROM looks completely different from all the other ROMs and OEM skins out there and to a certain degree feels inspired by iOS. In fact, it can be argued that MIUI feels more polished than even stock Android to a certain extent.
