Nokia announced its first Android-powered smartphones at Mobile World Congress earlier this week, but at first glance, you might not think they were running Google’s platform. In fact, they actually look more like Windows Phone devices. That’s because Nokia’s version of Android, like Amazon’s, has been heavily modified for its own devices.

But for those who want to combine the Nokia X’s colorful design with a more traditional Android feel, it’s as easy as installing a third-party launcher.

Nokia certainly has big plans with its new trio of Nokia X devices as mentioned during the company’s keynote address yesterday. And the Finnish manufacturer has now spilled the beans on regions around the world which will receive the smartphone first.

One of the key issues raised during the Nokia X announcement yesterday was pertaining to app compatibility. While Nokia made it clear that side loading of applications will be supported on the smartphone, it didn’t actually give out a specific number.

We were all expecting Nokia to announce its first Android-powered smartphone here at MWC, but what we actually got was three new handsets all running the Finnish firm’s new take on Android. Called the Nokia X, the Nokia X+, and the Nokia XL, the trio offer “phones for all” — and promise to bridge the game between Nokia’s entry-level Asha lineup, and its flagship Lumia family.
