The brand new Droid Maxx colorways.

In comparison to high-end smartphones currently on the market, the Droid Maxx seems slightly outdated. It doesn’t have the latest hardware, nor software, but it appears that Motorola isn’t ready to let the handset die out just yet. Earlier today, the manufacturer teamed up with Verizon to release two new color options of the Maxx.

Motorola will let customers slap leather backs on their smartphones later this year, according to a cryptic tweet from Twitter leaker @evleaks.

Moto Maker, Motorola’s online configuration tool, offers deep levels of customization, enabling buyers to modify many aspects of the company’s flagship Moto X smartphone. Last year’s novel addition of wooden back panels for the Moto X was only the beginning of Motorola’s move toward natural smartphone cases, if the latest rumor is to be believed.

The upcoming OnePlus One has been upgraded ahead of its release with Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon 801 processor.

The handset was to launch with its predecessor, the Snapdragon 800, but it’ll now boast the same CPU that powers the Samsung Galaxy S5, the Sony Xperia Z2, and the All New HTC One.

Samsung's Galaxy Gear 2 boasts better battery life, a built-in IR blaster, and swappable straps.

After announcing that it will begin taking Galaxy S5 pre-orders starting tomorrow, AT&T confirmed pricing and availability for Samsung’s new smartwatch family in the U.S.

Like the handset, the Galaxy Gear 2, Galaxy Gear 2 Neo, and Galaxy Gear Fit will be available in early April, and prices start at $199. Those who buy a Galaxy S5 before June 5 will get $50 off the Galaxy Gear of their choice.

Late yesterday afternoon, Motorola updated its official Assist app on Google’s Play Store, which is sadly currently only available to download on the following smartphones: the Moto X, the Droid Ultra, the Droid Mini and the Droid Maxx. The Motorola Assist app brings users exclusive added functionality that they would not usually receive as standard on their Android-powered handsets, and now, thanks to this update, users will be able to have multiple calendars monitored throughout their day-to-day life.
