Moto-X-Chromecast

Motorola permanently slashed the off-contract price of the Moto X down to $399 on New Year’s Day, but if that wasn’t enough to tempt you into buying one, maybe a free Chromecast will be. Google’s $35 wireless dongle now comes free with the Moto X for a limited time.

Following rumors dating back as far as December claiming that Verizon would soon be offering Motorola’s scaled-down variant of its flagship smartphone, the Moto G, for just $99.99 on a prepaid card tariff, the operator has today published a page on its official website doing just that — slashing a whopping $80 off the budget-friendly handset.

Did you know your Moto X has a hidden LED notification light that’s disabled by default? Motorola chose to use the handset’s excellent Active Display technology to notify you of new alerts as they come in, but the handset does have an unused LED light as well. And you can activate it if you have root access.

Motorola has today begun issuing invitations to a January 14 press event in London. “Join us on the next step of Motorola’s journey,” the invite reads, ”as we welcome a new addition to the European Motorola family of products.”
