Kindle FreeTime is just for kids.

If you’re buying your kid(s) a Kindle tablet this Christmas, then it may be worth checking out Kindle FreeTime, a new, “all-you-can-eat” subscription service from Amazon that’s designed specifically for those aged between three and eight. It provides unlimited access to apps, books, games, movies, and TV shows that are all curated for “age-appropriateness,” with content from the likes of DC Comics, Disney, Marvel, Nickelodeon, and more.

Yesterday, Amazon held an event to announce its new line of Kindles. They had some impressive features, decent specs, but best of all — an incredible price. If you don’t feel like reading all about it and would rather watch the video of yesterday’s event, you’re in luck. Amazon has uploaded the full video to YouTube as well as their press site. Don’t feel like switching pages? Then just watch is here after the break. Cheers!

Amazon dropped a few bombs on us today with its new Kindle Fire HD line. Not only will they be following up with another 7-inch model, but they’ve added in a larger 8.9-inch model for good measure. The event ended not too long ago and I have to admit — I’m impressed. The specs and features were well enough to have me intrigued, but when they laid out the pricing, I was stoked. I may end up an Amazon convert, we’ll have to see.

Amazon will be holding a press event on September 6th to reveal what we can only assume will be the next line of Kindles. The invitations have been arriving in press inboxes everywhere but give no details in regards to what will be announced. With the holiday season a few month away, Amazon will be getting a head start and it will be interesting to see how their new offerings compare to the current budget tablet leader, the Nexus 7.

A rumored press shot of Google's tablet, which is said to be launching in June.

The Google-branded Nexus tablet has been in the rumor-mill for quite sometime. According to rumors, the Mountain View-based company is expected to ship its own branded tablet, with the help of Asus to manufacture it. Google has also been rumored to sell it through an online store, much like it did with the Nexus One. According to a new report this morning, Google is waiting to ship the new tablet in June, pushing it back from the rumored May launch. The wait is reportedly to lower costs from $249, which will put the tablet on a more competitive level.
