Android Wear was among the plethora of announcements that Google made yesterday at its keynote in Google I/O. The company talked in length about the various features of Android Wear and how apps will make it more useful in our day to day life.
Google will preview its next Android update at the Google I/O conference in San Francisco this morning, and according to sources familiar with its plans, it’ll be called Android 5.0 “Lollipop.”
Last year, Google released a brand new launcher with the Nexus 5 — dubbed Google Now Launcher. While launcher does not look radically different from other similar offerings on the Play Store it offers quick access to Google Now with a simple left swipe on the homescreen.
If Google Now is of not much use to you, this feature might not seem a biggie. However, if it does, the ability to access Google Now in an instant with all the relevant cards already present is a boon. Sadly, Google has only made the launcher available for the Nexus devices running Android 4.4 KitKat. While there are ways to install the launcher on other KitKat running devices, Jelly Bean users have been out of luck so dar.
The latest Android distribution figures are in!
Google has published the latest distribution figures for the Android operating system. The numbers, were uploaded to the official Developer Dashboard blog and reveal a consistent growth in the amount of users running KitKat (4.4), whilst older versions of the OS continue on their long path towards extinction.
