Isn’t it the most Samsung thing in the world to introduce a new technology that’s actually kind of interesting, and then ruin any originality points it picked up by blatantly ripping off Apple?

Xiaomi is once again China’s top smartphone maker, pushing Apple down to third place despite its immensely strong quarter, and Samsung to either fourth or fifth position.

A number of Silicon Valley technology giants have backed Samsung in its legal battle against Apple. Documents confirm Dell, eBay, Facebook, Google, and HP all took the South Korean company’s side in a “friend of the court” brief on July 1.

Chinese gadget maker Meizu today announced its new flagship, the aluminum-clad MX5, and it couldn’t look any more like an iPhone. The device sports a unibody design and high-end features, including an “mTouch 2.0” fingerprint scanner that’s integrated into its home button.
