Mobile-World-Congress-MWC

Mobile World Congress 2014 kicks off on Monday, February 24, and Cult of Android will be live from Barcelona. In addition to regular posts covering all of the announcements, we’ll also be running a live blog throughout the event that will bring you the latest from the show floor.

So not only will you get breaking news and hands-on coverage of the latest products, but also an insight into what it’s really like to attend MWC. Here are some of the things we’re expecting.

HTC-Watch

HTC is expected to give carriers a “sneak peak” at a brand new smartwatch powered by Google Now at Mobile World Congress next week, according to “a person with direct knowledge of the plans” who has been speaking to Bloomberg. The prototype device is said to be the first of three new wearables from the Taiwanese company.

HTC-One-max-official

A leaked HTC software updates plan has revealed that the original One and One max will receive Sense 6 upgrades later this year. It also reveals that the handsets next in line for an Android 4.4.2 KitKat update are the Butterfly S, the original Butterfly, the Desire 601, and the Desire 700.

HTC-Desire-8-leak

HTC sent out invitations to its Desire 8 unveiling in Beijing earlier this week, but thanks to @Evleaks, we don’t need to wait any longer for its full list of specifications. As expected, the device will a 5.5-inch SuperLCD2 display with a 720p resolution, and it’ll powered by a quad-core Snapdragon 400 processor.

The midrange handset will also debut HTC’s new Sense 6 user interface — presumably on top of Android 4.4 KitKat — and it will be available in a whole host of pretty colors.

EVO 4G LTE

As promised by HTC earlier this week, the full RUU for the Android 4.3 update for the Sprint EVO 4G LTE is now available for manual download and installation. Due to space restrictions, the company won’t be able to release the update via OTA so users will have to manually update their handset to the latest version of Jelly Bean.
