Google has greatly improved its default Android keyboard for Lollipop, not only by giving it a Material Design overhaul, but by adding new features as well. Motorola’s smartphones are praised for having near pure Android firmware, but the company has a habit of putting carrier names in the status bar by default. And for the vast majority, it’s nothing but annoying — after all, it’s not like you’re going to forget which carrier you’re with, right?

Fortunately, it’s super simple to hide it, and you won’t even need root access. Here’s what you need to do.

Earlier today, the Cyanogen and OnePlus team started rolling out a major software update for the OnePlus One that brings with it a number of bug-fixes and enhancements. Since the OTA update is being rolled out in batches though, it won’t be available instantly to everyone with “full deployment” scheduled to occur from the end of this week.

If you are a OnePlus One owner and are eagerly waiting for the update to land on your phone, here is some news to brighten up your day. You can manually download the OTA update and sideload it to your device in no time, provided you are comfortable with ADB and Fastboot.

This also makes gaining root access on the One an extremely easy process.
