HTC-Dot-View-case

At $50, HTC’s official Dot View case for the One M8 is pretty expensive. Especially when you consider it’s essentially just a regular case with some holes in the front. In fact, all you need is a drill and a steady hand and you can hack together your own for as little as $10.

British broadcaster BSkyB has returned all of its of Android apps to Google Play. All ten of them were pulled earlier this week when they were hacked by the Syrian Electronic Army, and Sky advised users to uninstall them from their devices.

Now users are safe to install them again.

Galaxy-Note-II-lock

A security flaw that allows users to bypass lock screen security and briefly access the home screen has been discovered on the Samsung Galaxy Note II. The hack was discovered by Galaxy Note II owner Terence Eden, who stumbled across it simply by playing around with his device.

Forget all the gadgets that you’ve seen coming out of CES over the past few days, this is by far the best you’ll see this week. Chad Boughton has taken one of Nintendo’s original Game Boy handhelds and turned it into something useful — a game controller for his Samsung Galaxy Nexus. If you’ve been following up on the Black Hat conference going on in Las Vegas, you may have heard about how NFC can be used to execute malicious code on an Android device. While the hack, demonstrated by security researcher Charlie Miller, does expose an issue with the way Android should handle NFC commands, it’s likely to result in more good than it is actual harm.
