This year’s Google I/O was the year of the Nexus, and right before I set off on my vacation, Google announced the Nexus 7. If you haven’t heard about it yet, here’s a few links to get you started:

Following Apple’s Google’s leap into 3D mapping technologies, Amazon has acquired a 3D mapping startup of its own. The online retail giant today sealed a deal to purchase UpNext in a move that could signal the company’s intentions to bring 3D maps to its Kindle Fire slate without any assistance from Google.

While Google’s Day 1 Keynote was Oscar worthy, there was plenty of amazing announcements included in Day 2. If you happened to miss the Day 2 Keynote, you can now head over to YouTube and watch it in its entirety.

Google had some great announcements for the future of Google TV. Not only have they partnered with four of the top TV manufacturers to bring a new generation of Google TVs, but they also announced how more content will be making its way to your Google TV later this summer.

As soon as the Nexus 7 became available for pre-order, Android enthusiasts flooded the site, looking to grab Google’s Tegra 3, Android 4.1 sub $200 tablet. Of course if you’re an Androidian or Googlite, this was a no brainer, but what about consumers outside of the cultists? Turns out they’re just as interested in Google’s Nexus tablet as we are. How do I know this? Well, I don’t… but you’re supposed to believe everything on the internet, so believe it.
