Like Amazon’s Kindle Fire devices, Barnes & Noble’s Android-powered Nook HD and Nook HD+ tablets have always relied on the company’s proprietary app store for software distribution.

While this ensures that every app you download will work well on your slate, it also means that the app selection is limited, and nowhere near that of Android’s own Google Play store.

But that all changed today when Barnes & Noble announced it will finally be bringing Google Play to its tablets.

The official Twitter client for Android has been updated to introduce a new menu button that provides users with quick and easy access to account switching and settings. It also supported Trends, a feature that was also brought to iOS this week, and promises a smoother experience.

Yahoo!-Android

Yahoo! is today rolling out the latest version of its Android app, which boasts an all-new design and Summly integration, a week after it made its debut on iOS. The update comes just over a month after Yahoo! acquired Summly for $30 million from British teenager Nick D’Aloisio.

New-Google-Play

Google has updated its terms and conditions for Google Play to prevent developers from updating their apps outside of the store. The move comes after Facebook began experimenting with in-app updates that circumvented Google Play and confused a number of its users.
