Last week, Koushik Dutta showed off his new phone-to-Chromecast video streaming app which will enable users to “cast” photos or videos stored locally on any Android device directly to an HD TV. And now, less than a week later he is showing off another one of his great inventions which will permit users to stream video, pictures or music from Dropbox to a Chromecast unit, in his brand new Dropbox-to-Chromecast app.

Android Device Manager Shortened

Android Device Manager (ADM) was announced yesterday, and Google led us to believe that it would begin its roll out sometime towards the end of the month. But much to our surprise the Device Manager has already been pushed out over-the-air to some Android users via Google Play Services.

Google Play TV is now available to use in the U.K., with individual episode prices starting from £1.89 ($2.87) for SD, or £2.49 ($3.79) for HD. Seasons prices vary depending on the program’s popularity as well as how many episodes it contains, with the cheapest starting at £4.99 ($7.59).

Google Play has finally surpassed the App Store in the number of downloads in a quarter for the first time ever according to a report from App Annie.

Thanks to strong performances in India and Brazil, Google Play topped the App Store with 10% more app downloads in Q2 2013. Despite Google Play netting more downloads, when it comes down to what matters most – cash, money, revenue – Apple is still generating 2.3x more dead presidents than Google Play.

Microsoft-Office-Mobile

Microsoft Office Mobile makes its debut on Android today, almost seven weeks after it was released on the iPhone. The app allows you to open, edit, and create Word, Excel, and PowerPoint documents from virtually anywhere on your smartphone. You will need a qualifying Office 365 subscription to use it, however.
