Verizon appears to be on an SD removal kick. We saw them do it with the DROID RAZR and now they’re doing it with the DROID Bionic. You can now grab a DROID Bionic without the extra 16GB microSD card for $99 on contract. This move shouldn’t bother anyone as you can still add your own microSD card should you need the extra storage. At least now, you can catch a break in price on a 4G LTE device that sports a dual-core 1GHz processor and a 4.3″ 960×540 qHD display.

AT&T may be playing catch up when it comes to expanding their LTE network but they haven’t slowed down their roll out. Markets in both Florida and North Carolina were lit up today, bringing the blazing fast LTE speeds to any customer owning a 4G LTE device. Areas affected include:

AT&T has been sending out text messages to those they consider to be among the top 5 percent of heaviest data users. These messages seem to only pertain to those still on the “unlimited” plan and warn them that they may be subjected to “reduced data speeds.” This throttling of data speeds is a direct attack against the “unlimited” plans and the users grandfathered into them. The worst part about it is most “unlimited” users have not changed the way they use their phones, yet they are now finding themselves to be alienated and penalized as being a part of the 5%. The whole thing is outrageous, and while many customers have been ranting about it for a while, you’re going to want to see what happens when Fox News anchor Shep Smith receives one of these AT&T messages. Let’s just say someone’s not happy.

Starting Sunday AT&T customers will be faced with a $36 fee for upgrading to a new device. This is a 100% increase from the current fee of $18! You ask yourself why, why would AT&T impose a 100% increase on a fee so outlandish that the majority of carriers wave? I say it’s to make up for the 4 billion dollar loss they took on the failed T-Mobile merger. They say it’s because:

A few days ago we reported Verizon would be offering “buy-one get-one” on Motorola DROID RAZRs as well as bringing back their double data promo this Friday. Well, it’s Friday, and sure enough, the deals are now live and part of Verizon’s Valentine’s Sale.
