If you’ve browsed the top paid charts in Google Play recently, you may already be familiar with Virus Shield, a $4 app that promised to protect your Android-powered devices from harmful files. It amassed more than 10,000 downloads during its short time on Google Play, and received a 4.7 star rating from thousands of users.

The only problem is, those users didn’t know that Virus Shield was nothing more than a complete scam.

Google has introduced a new “People” section to the Play Store that helps users discover new apps, games, and other content based on what their friends like. It presents you with a whole bunch of titles that have been rated or reviewed by the people in your Google+ circles, and suggests other users you may wish to follow.

Coursera Android

The popular education based portal, Coursera has now found a new home on Android with the official app making its way to the Play Store. Previously available only on web and iOS, this has certainly come as good news for Android users.

HTC-Gallery-app

One of HTC’s new Sense 6 apps, which were released via Google Play on Monday evening, has confirmed the existence of an “HTC One (M8) Google Play Edition.” Like its predecessor, the new HTC One will available with a stock Android ROM free from HTC’s Sense 6 user interface.

Facebook-mobile

Facebook is about to roll out an update for its official application on the Play Store. This upgrade is set to bring several improvements to the built-in Groups administration menu, in addition to a multitude of new camera-orientated functionality.
