Owners of the Sony Xperia Play, get your thumbs ready for some beta testing. Tonight, Sony has released a public beta for Ice Cream Sandwich that runs on the Xperia Play. Sure, it was available through custom ROMs, but nothings better than an official release. Sony wants your help testing the software.


T-Mobile has sort of faded away ever since they attempted to join the dark side but they’re slowly climbing back into customers good graces. Today they detailed their plans to update a couple of HTC devices to Android’s latest and greatest Ice Cream Sandwich. HTC Amaze 4G and Sensation owners can expect to have their devices updated to Android 4.0 according to T-Mobile support documents posted online. The dates for the update are listed as TBD but the fact that these documents are up is a good sign.


A few crafty HTC Vivid owners have been able to pull down the Ice Cream Sandwich update thanks to a little dialer trick. A forum member over at Android Central was surprised to find Ice Cream Sandwich and Sense 3.6 waiting for him after performing a system update by dialing *#*#682#*#* . Quite a few people have since had success using the same method while others say the number just disappears from the screen when they try to dial it. Either way, it’s worth a shot to have Ice Cream Sandwich running on your Vivid ahead of most other devices.


When HTC unveiled their One series of phones, their wasn’t much info about the One V. They told us about its Legend design (which I don’t really care for) and at MWC they showed us a charcoal-colored version that wasn’t quite ready to be powered on. We now know the HTC One V is expected to be an entry level device and thanks to Japanese site Blog of Mobile, we also know it will come in a variety of other colors.


Yesterday HTC posted an update on the progress of their Ice Cream Sandwich rollouts. Ice Cream Sandwich has already started rolling out to a limited number of HTC Sensation and Sensation XE users and should see more widespread distribution in the next couple weeks. The Sensation 4G and Sensation XL will soon follow, after that, it’s anyone’s guess. However, HTC has listed all the devices expected to recieve Android 4.0 and they are as follows:
