Motorola has today begun issuing invitations to a January 14 press event in London. “Join us on the next step of Motorola’s journey,” the invite reads, ”as we welcome a new addition to the European Motorola family of products.”

Sony this week announced the latest addition to its Xperia lineup at CES in Las Vegas, and it’s sure to please those who like high-end smartphones in pocketable packages. It’s essentially an Xperia Z1 that’s been shrunk down slightly; it has all of the Z1’s premium specifications coupled with a smaller 4.3-inch display, and it’s called the Xperia Z1 Compact.
